A 16-year-old motorcycle rider has died, while a 17-year-old passenger has been taken to hospital in serious condition after an accident in Wieliczka. According to police findings, the teenagers ran a red light on their motorcycle, hitting a passenger car.A tragic accident occurred on Saturday at around 11:30 in Wieliczka. At the intersection of Grottgera Street with national road no. 94, a Suzuki motorcycle collided with a Skoda passenger car. According to initial police findings, the 16-year-old driver entered the intersection on a red light, colliding with a car turning left."As a result of the injuries sustained, despite resuscitation, the motorcycle driver died at the scene," the Małopolska police reported in a statement.The passenger on the motorcycle was a 17-year-old girl who was taken to hospital in serious condition. As a result of the accident, two passengers travelling in the Skoda suffered minor injuries."The activities at the scene, under the supervision of the prosecutor, were carried out by police officers from the Wieliczka traffic police together with a forensic technician. During the police activities, national road no. 94 was completely blocked. Detours were designated. The exact causes and circumstances of this tragic event will be explained in the ongoing proceedings, supervised by the District Prosecutor's Office in Wieliczka," the Małopolska police reported.
