Random attacker punches man outside his home - East Side, Milwaukee
Surveillance video shows Milwaukee homeowner punched several times outside his own homeMILWAUKEE — Home security footage captured an attacker punching a man multiple times in front of his own home in Milwaukee's Brady Street neighborhood. It happened just before 9:30 a.m. Saturday on Arlington Place near Hamilton Street.Kristel Sikora identified her husband, Matt Carlin, as the victim."He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, and that could happen to anyone," Sikora said. She said he was checking out a disturbance outside their home when the situation escalated, and the attacker began ripping Carlin's shirt.A separate video clip shows the stranger punching Carlin multiple times in the face."Three fractures, two major and one minor on his jaw in all different angles," Sikora said. "It's just nonsensical, and I just don't understand that violence, that brutality for someone you don't even know."Carlin's wife said with the help of others, they've identified the man caught on camera. They relayed what they say they've uncovered to police but feel ignored."How is it that a victim can provide all of the answers, the name of the individual, the address of the individual, the fact that he was attempting to flee the state of Wisconsin on Monday. They provided that information to the Milwaukee Police Department three hours in advance of him getting on that airplane," family spokesman Joshua Kuehn said. "And the Milwaukee Police Department said there was nothing they could do."Police do not have the attacker in custody and would not respond to WISN 12 News' specific questions about the family's accusations.Sikora said Carlin has already had one surgery and will have his jaw wired during a second surgery Thursday.Tuesday, she is asking for accountability."I was so blown away by the community's support, and I just feel like it's time that the MPD gets in line and is also as supportive as the community because we cannot do this alone," Sikora said.
